Independence Day Celebration\"Independence-Day\"<\/strong><\/h1>\n

As most Americans will celebrate the Fourth of July better known as Independence Day, very few will take a look at the real meaning of this historic day.<\/p>\n

During the\u00a0American Revolution<\/a>, the legal separation of the\u00a0Thirteen Colonies<\/a>\u00a0from Great Britain occurred on July 2, 1776, when the\u00a0Second Continental Congress<\/a>\u00a0voted to approve a resolution of independence<\/a>\u00a0that had been proposed in June by\u00a0Richard Henry Lee<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Virginia<\/a>\u00a0declaring the United States independent from Great Britain rule.[5]<\/sup><\/a>[6]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the\u00a0Declaration of Independence<\/a>, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a\u00a0Committee of Five<\/a>, with\u00a0Thomas Jefferson<\/a>\u00a0as its principal author. Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration, finally approving it on July 4. (Wikipedia)<\/p>\n

To John Adams, it was to be remembered as a “Day of Deliverance” from the control and oppression of tyrants, and it should be marked by acts of devotion to the God who delivers! To Sam Adams, and to his cousin John, the spiritual implications were significant. As God, the author of our liberty has “declared” us free from the power, dictates and cruel authority of the arch “tyrant”, the colonists were declaring themselves “free” to serve the King of Kings, and not an earthly tyrant.
